cut it off.

Chop it. Rip em up. Distress the mess out of em. The shorter the better. I’m talking about the staple that should be in all of our summer closets. The denim short, sometimes lovingly called jorts. They go with just about anything, come in all different styles and washes, and are the perfect thing to throw on in a rush.

Personally, I have been a lover of the jort for as long as I can remember. Living in a coastal town, they are the go-to beach cover up, seeing as you are going to know pretty much everyone you see, so you can’t look a complete hot mess. They are the perfect, “Hey I know I’m just at the beach, but I’m still effortlessly chic and cute with my jorts, loose t-shirt and oversized sunnies. Thanks for noticing.” Dress them up with heels and a cute chambray shirt to go casual glam and it adds the touch of the unexpected, which you know I love.

Clearly if you don’t have a pair of these yet, you are gonna need to run and grab you some! Urban Outfitters has some of my favorite options. They do the classic mid-rise, or my personal favorite the high waisted “Erin” short. They also have their Urban renewal line, which literally cuts off old denim pants, into shorts. Very authentic. Or you can go to Goodwill and grab a pair of “mom jeans” and DIY your own pair. I’ve tried this DIY and it totes works.

Get to cutting it all off ladies.

Well after being called out by my lovely friend Christopher Leary, yes I used your full name, about not posting about a very significant music festival that has taken over my Twitter timeline for the past two weekends, here it goes. My ode to Coachella. The festival where it is socially acceptable to look as if you just went into your closet with your eyes closed, grab the first things you feel, put them on and wear flowers in your hair and sway to music you have probably never heard of before.

I have had plenty of time to mentally plan my suitcase for this momentous occasion. I will need lots of cutoff high-waisted shorts, ankle boots, oversized tank tops with lace, beading or some obscure band I have no idea who they are. Sunnies are most definitely a must. It really is all about the hair, so scarves for getting it out of your face during the intense heat and swaying that will be going on is very important, as well as a panama hat to shield the sun. Clearly I have thought this through.

What are your must haves for music festivals?

Oh…and are you happy now Chris?

pinned that.

So it is no secret that basically everyone, like ever, is on Pinterest at this point. Some use it personally, some for their jobs, others use it for DIY projects or outfit inspiration. It has become a haven for me, a way to de-stress after a long, and completely crazy day. A way to unleash my creative juices, through other people’s downright genius ideas. The things people come up with are just so smart, and so easy once you think about it, that leave you wondering why in the world did you not think of that yourself?! I discovered the other day that I literally have over 5,000 pins, which got me thinking….I need to share some of these lovelies that I deem important enough to electronically hoard, with the small minority that aren’t pinning up a storm. I think this will most likely be a weekly edition to my blog, as I am trying ever so hard to create some consistency. :)

So while I pinned this a while ago, after my most recent trip to H&M (my home away from home), I now have enough pieces to makes this outfit happen. I got an adorable bright coral side satchel, and I already have the army green utility vest from Old Navy. And honestly, who doesn’t have like 12 striped tees?! Looks like this will be happening soon.

I recently feel like Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses, as I have now been officially asked to be a bridesmaid in not one, or two…but three weddings within the next year. I am well on my way to being, always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Although I am incredibly excited to be in these ladies biggest days, the stress is starting to creep in. Hello dresses, presents, bachelorette parties, and lots of gas for traveling. Finding these adorbs wine stoppers are just the perf little gift. What bride-to-be wouldn’t love anything with their new initials?! Love.

Shoutout to my girl, Courtney Kerr, who I lovingly call CK in my everyday conversations. For example….”I put on this Nars Dragon Girl for tonight, totes having a CK moment.” When I saw this post, I had to research those sunnies. As an avid collector of such things, these glasses were IT for me. I mean, I love anything she does, wears, tweets, or breathes on, so obvi these had to be mine. And they were on sale. Thanks girl.

Now a way to organize my CK sunnies. Hello huge frame and some chicken wire. Genius. I’m telling you, these people on Pinterest know what they are doing. However, I’m going to have to get some more to fill a frame this big. Oh darn.

What are some of your fav pins?? Follow me here for even more goodies.

bedroom blues.

Since my moving back to Savannah, and in turn back into my old room at my parent’s house, I have experienced a bit of a problem. Mainly that I have had the exact same room, bedspread, curtains, artwork etc. since the 8th grade. That is right people, since I was an awkward middle schooler I have had the glorious P.B. Teen striped bedspread, with coordinating pillow straight up from the catalog. If that is not the complete opposite of my style and all that I’m about, a cookie-cutter bedroom feel, I don’t know what is.

However, fear not folks, I am undergoing the much anticipated room re-do and of course have enlisted my all time favorite interior decorator to help out. Pinterest. I figure the best way to decipher through the thousands of pins, is to choose the ones that stick out to me at first glance. Then we can see what is consistent, and what all I’m feeling in each room. Sounds logical right??

Now that this research has been done, I have come to the final conclusions that:

Clearly I need white bedding.

Love a good monogram pillow. Or two.

Pops of color within all the neutrals.

Quirky color combos.

And can we talk about the shoes and mirror on the last pic. I mean, totally unrealistic for me, but GAHH, Carrie Bradshaw would be proud.

just a few.

On this beyond gorgeous Tuesday that makes me long for the beach more than I ever have, like ever. I leave you with a few random thoughts.

While I know everyone, myself included rushed to Target this morning to get the much anticipated Justin Timberlake 20/20 Experience, and if you didn’t go now because it is fantastic and will make you lust over him all over again, who cares if he is married (Dumb Jessica Biel), another album came out today that I must say, surprised me.

If you haven’t fired up your Spotify and jammed to this yet, you just should. It’s really great, and perfect working on a project music. Trust me, that’s been my day! “Keep it to Yourself” is my absolute fav, on repeat.

Sometimes I find myself missing the valuable lessons we learned on The Hills. Oh Justin Bobby. Good thing I own seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. Don’t judge me.

Must recreate this ensemble asap. Wonder where I can find some leopard loosie-goosie shorts?!

I don’t really care what anyone says, they are perfection. I will forever be an Ashley, to my sister’s Mary-Kate.

Lasagna Cups. Man don’t they look yummy. I should try to make these….because I’m such a chef and all. Which is a complete joke to anyone who knows me. It’s the thought that counts right?!

spring has sprung.

With temperatures expected to be in the HIGHH 70s this weekend, I have taken it upon myself to stand in as Mother Nature and declare it springtime. And I could not be more excited. Goodbye boring sweaters, long layers, heavy jackets, too much black, and bulky scarves. (Can you tell I’m not the biggest fan of winter?!) Needless to say, I am beyond ready for shorter hemlines, bright fun colors, sunglasses, baseball games (and the cute outfits that come with that), sandals, pedicures, and panama hats.
